KY-1901 is the basic model of the Shin-Etsu KY series of Super-Hydrophobic Solutions. Despite being a basic model, it offers superior UV resistance compared to the highest-end products of other brands on the market. KY-1901 is widely used for the cover glass of 3C (Computer, Communication, and Consumer Electronics) products as well as automotive side windows and provides an exceptional cost-performance ratio.
Antifouling: a smooth fluorinated surface layer prevents fingerprints and ink blots
Removal of fingerprints: persistent fingerprints can be removed easily by wiping
Water and oil repellency: repels water or oil and keeps substances clean
Low friction: makes wiping off easy and protects surface from scratches
Very thin layer: preserves substance’s optical properties and texture
Durability:excellent resistance to steel wool rubbing, UV-A, alkali and acid
Based on over a decade of mass production validation by our customers, KY-1901, when paired with the F-026 diluent, demonstrates exceptionally outstanding performance.
Comparison of KY-1901 (0.5%) with F-026 and 3M Novec 7200, dried naturally at *room temperature.
Test Item
contact Angle, abrasion
Condition
Clean the glass with a dust-free cloth stained with alcohol, and the smaller the droplet Angle of the glass sheet before the test, the better;
Liquid medicine on the lens: Wear rubber gloves to hold the glass, and use a disposable straw to pour liquid medicine on the glass (once);
drying conditions: room temperature 24H, 48H, 72H after wiping wear comparison.
Type of glass used: ordinary glass
Abrasion: bearing 1000g, in the daub surface friction 3000/5000 times, uniform speed 60 times/minute;
steel velvet friction head 1cm*1cm, steel velvet are used to replace the BONSTAR 0000# test.
Clean glass surface with a dust-free cloth before abrasion test
Conclusion
After 24hr wiping at room temperature, the average contact angle after abrasion of F-026 for 3000 times is 0.9° lower than that of 7200, and the average contact angle after abrasion for 5000 times is 1.5° lower than that of 7200;
After 24hr wiping at room temperature, the average contact angle after abrasion of F-026 for 3000 times is 0.4° lower than that of 7200, and the average contact Angle after abrasion for 5000 times is 0.5° lower than that of 7200;
After 72hr wiping at room temperature , contact angle after abrasion of F-026 for 3000 times is no different from that of 7200, and the contact angle after abrasion for 5000 times is basically no different from that of 7200.
The overall test results show that there is basically no difference between the average contact angle after abrasion of the two solvents at room temperature @72hr
*If subjected to a baking and drying process (approximately 120~150°C for 30 minutes), the performance testing results are slightly better compared to air drying at room temperature.
The minimum packaging unit for KY-1901 is 100 grams per bottle. To ensure the stability of the material, we recommend minimum purchasing amount of 100 grams. The typical mixing ratio with the diluent F-026 is 1:200 (0.5%), though different application fields may require different ratios. For specific recommendations, please contact us.
